An individual that has a superior position is in a better situation to apply a finishing hold or to start striking. This style allows for a smaller person to defeat a much larger attacker.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is excellent for women who are often taken to the ground during assaults. Developing technique and strength will provide women with confidence as well as focus and strategy in these dangerous situations. We are teaching the kids how to become leaders instead of followers while promoting a healthy lifestyle through Jiu-Jitsu. We want to reinforce important life skills taught at home such as confidence, focus, discipline, courtesy, and respect through a series of class room instruction and functional drilling.
BJJ is becoming a popular choice for many parents getting their children involved in martial arts because the system is completely based on leverage, positional dominance, and submissions (rather than kicking and punching). Our goal is to empower kids and teach them self-defense so they do not have to use it.
Our kids understand that being a martial artist extends well beyond the walls of the academy in to the home and the classroom. The children are well aware that we are learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and these important skill sets to become a more difficult target for bullying, not to be the bully.
